jj peña (pronouns he/they) is a queer, burrito-blooded writer living in el paso, tx. jj has won a few creative non-fiction flash/hybrid contests, from Fractured Literature (2021), Tinderbox Journal (2021), Santa Clara Review (2021), Mythic Picnic (2020), CutBank (2019), and Blue Earth Review (2019). jj's work is included in the Best Microfiction 2020 anthology & Wigleaf’s Top 50 (Very) Short Fictions (2020). jj is a 2021 Periplus fellow, a 2022 Woody & Gayle Hunt Fellow for Aspen Summer Words, a 2023 Editorial Fellow for Shenandoah Literary, holds a BA in both English and Anthropology,& an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Texas at El Paso. jj's stories have appeared or are forthcoming in Washington Square Review, Cincinnati Review, Massachusetts Review, & elsewhere. jj serves as a flash fiction reader for SplitLip Magazine
